Gretsch "Artist 150" archtop 1935 - rare!

5,500.00
  • top: handcarved, bookmatched solid spruce

  • b & s: solid figured maple

  • neck: solid maple, steel reinforced

  • fingerboard: ebony

  • ornate engraved pearl peghead and fingerboard inlay

  • triple bound fingerboard and body

  • extremely rare; only 7 examples are known to have survived. This was Gretsch’s top-of-the-line when it was introduced as a competitor to Gibson’s L-5 and Epiphone’s ‘Deluxe.’ Unlike many archtops, this guitar has tremendous bass response. A ‘boomer” archtop? you bet!
