Martin HD-28 PSE - 1988

$3,500.00

This was Martin’s 1988 Guitar Of The Year, and it’s a real sweetheart. The “PSE” means “Performer’s Special Edition,” and it indicates and early Martin low-profile neck, along with a unique combination of modern and retro features.

From the 1988 Martin catalog:

+++++++++
The HD-28PSE is a tasteful blend of C.F. Martin’s newest technology and features combined with designs that were popular on Martin guitars made in the early 1930s.

The 1930s features include the herringbone top trim, grained ivoroid binding, out old style 45 snowflake inlay pattern in the fingerboard and scalloped top bracing with the “X” crossing 1” from the soundhole. Aging toner on the song spruce top, combined with a squared headstock, further accentuates the "old time" look of the HD–28 PSE the sides and back are of specially selected East Indian rosewood and the neck is South America mahogany

The newer features include a little low profile neck to facilitate fast, easy play, an adjustable truss rod, tortoise style pickguard applied over the finish, and chrome Schaller gears with large ebony buttons.

Signatures of CF Martin supervisors that were directly involved with the handcrafting of this guitar adorn the underside of the top. All HD-28PSEs have a Limited Edition label signed by C.F. Martin IV.

The HD-28PSE new technology combined with over 150 years of C.f. Martin tradition and attention to detail make one great guitar

This is one of only 99 ever made, and it’s in really great shape.
