Martin D-18 1964
Martin D-18 1964
Lovely thing, and recently refurbed. Spruce over mahogany, of course, 1-11/16” at the nut, and 25.4” scale, of course, and barring unfortunate gravity-related events, this guitar is not going to need anything done to it for at least another couple of decades. Matt Kerslake, in Santa Rosa, CA has brought it all back up to specs:
-neck reset-refret
-bridge reglue
-new bone saddle
-setup
-small side crack on bass side/lower bout appears to be stable
at some point a long while ago, it was lightly oversprayed
This from the daughter of the sole owner:
***************
This 1964 D18 Martin guitar was owned by my father, who was born and raised on the West side of Kauai, Hawaii.
His love for music (and all things musical) found him playing on multiple instruments all his life.
As his daughter (who also loves music) I remember him playing his Martin guitar with his “local” friends ‘til all hours of the night. He was well known around the Island and would be asked to join various performers on stage at the Coconut Palms to sing and play this Martin guitar.
It is my wish that whoever comes to own this guitar finds many hours of musical joy and much Aloha spirit.
